Project overview

Working alongside Kingston Landscapes and PDP London Architects, Urban Street Designs manufactured 2 fully fabricated exterior planters for the Star and Garter, a Grade II listed building providing luxury apartments on the summit of Richmond Hill in London. The planters needed to fit in very specific locations and so the dimensions we worked to had to be exact. These were drawn up in our 3D CAD software to the millimetre and cut on our precision engineering laser and press brake in order to achieve this accuracy. We also put some neat square feet on the base to raise the planter off the ground slightly and supplied a drop in steel base with small holes in to create a drainage layer. The finish requested by the client was a powder-coated one to RAL 7024, a graphite grey. The planters were put through our own powder-coating line and oven, as we manufactured the planters out of Zintec (a zinc-coated steel) it gave the planters a lovely smooth base for the powder to adhere to.
